1. Who we are
SwiftDub is operated by FilePorts (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described here. This policy explains what we collect when you use SwiftDub, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Service. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
2. What we collect
| Information | Details |
|---|---|
| Account | A user ID and, where your sign-in provider verifies it, your email address (Google, or the email you register with). If you register with email and password, the password is handled by our identity provider and is never visible to us. |
| Plan, usage and billing | Your plan, daily and monthly usage counters, the dates of your subscription, the Stripe customer reference, and a record of the version and time you accepted the Terms. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. |
| Your media | The audio and video you choose to process, and what is derived from them: the separated audio, transcripts, translations, reference clips and generated speech (see Section 4). |
| Operational logs | Records of requests and jobs (what kind, when, how long, success or failure, which resource handled it, and your account identifier) used to run the Service, prevent abuse, enforce limits and fix problems. Our hosting provider also processes technical data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. |
| Messages | What you send through the contact form: your message, the name and email you enter, your account identifier if you are signed in, and basic technical details (browser type, country, the page you came from). Replies from us are stored with the message. The most recent 5,000 messages are kept; older ones are removed. |
We do not use advertising trackers or sell data. We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and you should not upload media that contains it unless you have the right and need to.
3. How we use it
- To provide the Service — sign you in, process your media, apply your plan and limits, bill you, and remember your settings (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep it safe and fair — detect abuse, fraud and violations of the Terms, enforce quotas, and secure the Service (our legitimate interests, and legal obligations).
- To support you and improve reliability — answer your messages, diagnose failures, and understand aggregate usage (legitimate interests).
- To meet legal obligations — tax, accounting, responding to lawful requests.
We do not use the content of your media for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
4. Your media
Your files are processed partly in your browser and partly on our servers and our providers’ servers, in order to separate voices from background sound, transcribe speech, translate text and synthesise speech. Files that reach our servers are intended to be deleted automatically within 24 hours. The projects you save — your video, transcripts, translations and generated clips — are kept in your own browser’s storage (Section 7), not on an account of ours, so you can resume them on that device.
When you clone or imitate a voice, a short reference clip of that speaker is sent to our servers to produce the new speech and is deleted with your other files. Please make sure you have the speaker’s consent (Terms, Section 6).
Text sent for translation goes to a large-language-model provider; audio sent for transcription or speech goes to our compute providers. They receive it only to perform that step for us. We choose providers whose terms restrict their use of the data to providing the service to us, but we cannot control their systems, so please do not send content you are not comfortable processing with third-party AI services.
6. How long we keep it
- Media files and derived audio and text on our servers: deleted automatically, intended within 24 hours.
- Account, plan and billing records: for as long as your account exists, and afterwards as needed for tax, accounting, legal claims and abuse prevention.
- Operational logs: kept for a limited period needed to run, secure and troubleshoot the Service, then removed or reduced.
- Records at providers (such as Stripe) follow their own schedules and legal requirements.
7. Storage in your browser
SwiftDub stores data on your device using browser storage (local storage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage and the origin private file system) to keep you signed in, remember your settings and theme, save your projects and speed up the app. These are essential to the Service; there are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can see how much space your saved projects use and clear everything from the account menu in the app, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. Clearing it deletes saved projects from that device, and we cannot restore them.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To exercise a right, or to ask us to delete your account and associated records, write to us through the contact form (signed in, or with the email address on your account). We may need to verify your identity, and may keep information we are required or permitted by law to keep (for example billing records). You can also manage your subscription and clear your device’s saved data from inside the app. If you are in the EEA or UK you can complain to your local data-protection authority.
California: in the last twelve months we have not sold or shared personal information as those terms are defined by California law.
9. International transfers
We and our providers operate in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information will be processed in those countries, which may have different data-protection laws from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and access controls, and automatic deletion of processed files. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your credentials safe and tell us at once if you suspect a problem.
11. Children
The Service is for people aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and for material changes we will give notice in the app or by email.
